• Junior Proposal Manager

  • Overview

    We are seeking a Junior Proposal Manager to join Excella’s Federal, Commercial, and Non-Profit Proposal efforts. Candidate needs to be a solutions-oriented, results-driven, and high-energy individual to support proposal efforts of varying size. Critical attributes include exceptional communication and organizational skills, innate leadership ability, interviewing skills, teamwork, flexibility, self-motivation and a “do-whatever-it-takes” attitude.


    • Work collaboratively with the proposal team to cultivate mastery of the proposal process. Work toward end-to-end ownership of assigned proposals, including oral presentations and prototype-style procurements.
    • Create outline and schedule for proposals; remain current on all proposal amendments and modifications.
    • Provide detailed guidance to proposal writers and contributors both within the company and among subcontractors; develop targeted questions and interview technical and programmatic staff to extract critical proposal-related information.
    • Write significant portions of proposal/marketing narrative (for technical, past performance, and management sections of the proposal) in real time.
    • Edit, organize, and refine entire proposal for final delivery.
    • Provide requested information for proposal development to companies hiring the company as a subcontractor.
    • Contribute to knowledge base and stories of “boilerplate” material for effective reuse in proposals.
    • Participate in storyboarding, kickoff, and review meetings; assist proactively in development of strategic win themes and discriminators.
    • Communicate proposal-related requirements and status to senior management as appropriate.

    • Undergraduate Degree; BA. in Professional Writing, Journalism, English, or Communications is preferred.
    • 2+ Years Proposal Coordination and/or Proposal Management experience.
    • High Level of Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

    Nice to have:

    • Prior experience independently leading proposals
    • Experience interfacing with people at all levels of an organization
    • SharePoint experience
    • Shipley and/or APMP Foundation training
