VP of Private Sector



Excella seeks a Vice President (VP) to lead our Private Sector market, with broad responsibility for leading our private sector market strategy, driving growth and business development for new accounts, and oversight and leadership for current engagements.  The VP reports to the COO and is an integral part of the senior leadership team for Excella.  The VP is supported by Senior Engagement Managers, who manage high performing teams across multiple engagements for private sector and nonprofit clients.  Successful candidates will have a proven track record as a leader in the tech consulting industry, demonstrated by strong network and client relationships, successful project delivery, and leading highly engaged teams.

Ensure exceptional client service delivery by:

  • Building senior client relationships as a trusted advisor
  • Focusing account leadership team on delivering value and impact for our clients
  • Identifying and addressing account risks and issues, and providing Excella resources to support the team

Energize and inspire high performing account teams by:

  • Cultivating a high performing and client centric culture across delivery leadership and teams
  • Conducting regular formal and informal performance check-ins with account leadership teams
  • Establishing individual and team goals and managing performance against those goals
  • Modeling Excella core values

Deliver strong financial results by:

  • Driving revenue and profit margins within the private sector
  • Analyzing market forces and proposing competitive rates for new work and extensions of existing work
  • Building accurate revenue and sales forecasts based on detailed knowledge of economic drivers
  • Establishing budgets and managing performance of investments to achieve results

Increase demand for Excella’s services within the private sector by:

  • Building a healthy and sustainable business development pipeline
  • Leading efforts to target, pursue, and win new work outside of current client accounts
  • Actively supporting existing account leadership in the development and execution of account growth plans
  • Ensuring a high percentage of renewals and extensions on current work
  • Directing and coaching account leadership in business development related activities, including pursuit strategies/capture plans and proposal efforts
  • Additional responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with other Excella Account Executives, functional/technical leads, and Excella Partners to define and execute strategies to achieve objectives
  • Supporting the staffing process for new opportunities by working closely with functional/technical leads to create and execute staffing plans
  • Meeting overall team chargeability expectations in order to achieve results in all areas


  • 10-15+ years of consulting experience delivering complex IT solutions
  • Proven track record of successful service delivery as a team member, team leader, and account executive
  • 10+ years of experience leading large teams across multiple engagements and/or sites
  • 8+ years of experience selling technology solutions to commercial/non-profit clients
  • Proven track record of significant new client acquisition and negotiation of client agreements
  • Proven track record of executive relationship development at client and partner organizations
